The Ekiti State Agro Marshalls has announced the arrest of two individuals, Sheyi Alaba and Ayodeji Ajayi, in connection with the possession and trading of illicit drugs.

Commander of the Corps, Mr Olamide Oni, said Alaba is suspected of specializing in the trading on Indian hemp, while Ajayi is suspected of dealing on Indian hemp, cocaine, heroin and Colorado.

Oni, a retired Commissioner of Police, noted that Ajayi was arrested on 29th May at Adebabayo.

He said, “On questioning he (Ayodeji) said he was sent by a woman Eya Iyin who gave him the substance worth N700,000 and at the time of arrest he has sold around N46,000 worth of the illicit drugs.”

The suspect, Ayodeji who identified himself as a betting host (Babaejebu) said it was his first time selling drugs since it was handed to him by Eya Iyin, adding that he didn’t know much about the business.

Alaba was arrested along the bush part on Agric Olope, Ado-Ekiti.

However, speaking to newsmen, Alaba said he only went to smoke at the bush part for the first time, adding that he has never smoked before now.

The commander said the suspects will be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
