UCL: Owen Hargreaves names team with best defenders, midfielder in semi-finals

Former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has named the team with the best midfielders and defenders in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

He believes that Paris Saint-Germain have the two best fullbacks in the game.

PSG will take on Arsenal, while Inter Milan will play Barcelona in the semi-finals of this season’s Champions League.

Before reaching this stage, PSG beat Aston 5-3 on aggregate, while Inter Milan sent Owen’s former club, Bayern Munich, crashing out to set up a semi-final clash with Barça.

Owen, a former England international, is of the opinion that PSG are strong in every department.

“Right now, those two [Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi] are the best in the Champions League,” he told Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.

“[Desire] Doue looks like he’s got rockets in his shoes, he’s looking at players knowing they can’t stop him.

“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is different. Vitinha plays like Modric. [Joao] Neves is unbelievable.

“The back four is crazy good, the midfield three compliment each other and up top they’ve got pace and skill.”

It would be the first time the Parisians have ever lifted the Champions League if they win the competition this season.
