Victor Osimhen set a new Super Lig scoring record on his Galatasaray debut, thrilling fans with his impressive performance.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that Victor Osimhen made an impressive start to life in the Turkish Super Lig, registering seven shots on goal in his Galatasaray debut during a commanding 5-0 victory over Rizespor—setting a new season record for shots in a single game.

Despite the setback of missing out on deadline day transfers to Chelsea and Al Ahly, the 25-year-old forward demonstrated his determination, delivering a strong performance in his first outing for The Yellow-Reds. His debut was marked by an assist in a dominant Game Week 5 clash at RAMS Park, Istanbul, where Davinson Sánchez, Abdülkerim Bardakcı, Gabriel Sara, Dries Mertens, and Baris Yılmaz each scored.

Head coach Okan Buruk wasted no time in deploying Osimhen to the starting XI, and the striker quickly proved to be a constant threat with his strength and dynamic movement, keeping the Rizespor defense on edge throughout.

Osimhen nearly netted a goal himself in the first half, meeting a cross with a powerful flicked header. Though his effort was redirected into an assist by Abdülkerim Bardakcı, his contribution was crucial to Galatasaray’s resounding win.

In addition to his assist, Osimhen’s performance was commanding throughout. He successfully completed eight of his nine passes, boasting a 73% passing accuracy, with two of those passes creating clear chances for his teammates.

The Nigerian striker demonstrated his attacking intent with one shot on target, two off target, and four blocked attempts, constantly pressuring the Rizespor defense despite their resilience.

The ex-Lille star also excelled in duels, winning three of four aerial contests and three of four ground battles, underlining his versatility in both areas. Additionally, he showcased his technical skill by completing all of his dribbles, further emphasizing his flair and ability to beat defenders.

Although Osimhen missed a significant opportunity to score, his debut strongly hinted at his potential value for Galatasaray. The reigning CAF Player of the Year showcased his physical strength, technical skills, and playmaking abilities throughout the full 90 minutes.

As Galatasaray aims to retain their title, Osimhen’s debut is a positive indicator of his capability to spearhead the team’s attack this season. His impressive performance sets high expectations, and fans will be eagerly anticipating his first goal in Turkish football as the season unfolds.
